OYO’s – those who are bringing your own kayak – gear drop at 11am below the spillway of Lake Perry.   GOOGLE MAP LINK     From the North Lawrence Turnpike exit, turn right/west onto highway 24/40 traveling towards Topeka.  You will pass through the town of Perry.  Watch for Thompsonville Road on the right/north.  You will take this road below the spillway, take the first right turn BEFORE the spillway and follow this gravel road all the way to the water – there is a slight left turn to reach the launch.

Check in time is 12:00pm at Rising Sun River Access in Lecompton.  We will be on the Kaw by 1:00pm and off river by about 6:30pm.   This adventure will be over before sunset –  Sunset is at 6:52pm – you should enjoy brunch, eat lunch or bring heavy snacks for the paddle.

We will provide a fire and dinner on the sandbar(menu TBD) Judi is bringing dessert!

Directions:
I-70 to Lecompton exit #197 (five miles west of Lawrence.) From exit 197 go north 1/4 mile to Lakeview Rd. Follow Lakeview Rd. west along the turnpike until it curves north, becoming Lecompton Rd. Go 3.2 miles through Lecompton. Continue north across the Kaw River on the Perry/Lecompton Bridge and look for the sign indicating Rising Sun River Access. Turn west into the park road that leads to the gravel parking lot. Concrete ramp is at the far end of the parking lot.

From US-24, turn south on Lecompton Rd east of the town of Perry, and continue 2.5 miles to the access road.
