Join us for one of our all time FAVORITE EVENTS! It’s time to GO ALL THE WAY!! This year we will be going to the first state park in Kansas, Kanopolis State Park! This park is situated in the rolling hills, bluffs and woods of the scenic Smoky Hills region of the state. From the towering Dakota sandstone bluffs to the caves and crevices of Horsethief Canyon, the park and surrounding area offer rugged beauty and stunning vistas. The trails will take us through all of these areas with amazing views and widely varied terrain. Good news, the ranger says that they will have completed trail maintenance on the ENTIRE trail BEFORE we hike! Woohoo! Sunday’s hike is primarily through prairie, this is beautiful wide sky rolling hill country. You will need a hat, sunscreen and a good windbreaker if it’s cool and windy
We will be hiking Saturday, camping Saturday evening and hiking some more on Sunday! We will cover roughly 7-8 miles on Saturday and 8-10 on Sunday. We have pre-hiked and mapped this hike, there are several small water crossings. YOU SHOULD BRING EXTRA SOCKS and SHOES just in case. TREKKING POLES make water crossings easier!
You will need to bring all of your own camping gear for the overnight stay. (see gear list below) We have reserved tent camping at Rockwall Campground for our group. You will bring your own lunch and snacks for the trail each day. Wear long hiking pants and hiking shoes, the terrain is rough and rocky. We will have at least one water crossing, probably not super wet given recent conditions but be prepared. We will provide dinner on Saturday night and breakfast on Sunday morning. All the Way includes group hiking with a guide and a sweep both days, overnight camping Saturday, 2 meals (dinner and breakfast) and an EVENT T-SPECIFIC COMMEMORATIVE ITEM.

Timeline of events… Saturday check in time is 10am at Rockwall campground. We will hike out and circle back to camp – we will be off trail by sunset 6:30pm or earlier. Dinner around 7pm with time around the fire to follow. Sunday morning we will breakfast and break camp ready to roll by 9am. We will drive to an alternate trailhead to start our Sunday hike. We will be off trail by sunset at the latest.
GEAR LIST: tent, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, pillow, personal care items, day pack with hydration capacity of at least 3 liters, headlamp, trekking poles, lawn chair, hiking pants – THERE ARE STICKERS and STICK-TIGHTS – ripstop or fabric that resists plants that stick are highly suggested, trail ready shoes or boots, rain gear, clothing layers, that include snacks and lunch
We will have water re-fills or access to water at camp.
What are you paying for?
Before you arrive at camp, we will have pre-hiked the entire trail. We have spoken with the Park Rangers, discussed safety and any possible concerns, arranged for a special use permit, reserved camping, planned for water and meals as listed above. We will provide a lead hiker, a middle hiker and a sweep hiker on trail. We will provide a guide support, information about the trail history and local plants and animals. We will all have first aid kits and equipment to aid in your comfort if injured. We will always know where we are (mostly) and will be able to access outside support if needed. Portions of this trail are not accessible by car.
Dirty Girl Adventures Event Refund Policy:
Refunds are given up to two weeks before the date of the event no questions asked. After that, refunds are not given unless there are exceptional circumstances. Dirty Girl Adventures may cancel or modify an event due to weather or conditions. Everyone will receive a refund if that is the reason for the cancellation. We will paddle and hike in cool, rainy or snowy conditions. Cancellation only occurs in severe weather or other dangerous conditions.
What are you paying for? It’s more than a hike, it’s a group experience! We will build connection with self, nature and each other on this adventure. We will provide any needed instruction, support, guidance and safety information before and during each event. We will be there with you for the duration of the event doing our best to help you remain comfortable and engaged in the adventure.
