Afternoon on Lake Shawnee

It’s time to Paddle!  Come and enjoy the afternoon on the lake with your friends. Kayaking is a great way to connect with nature, unwind and relax. A Lake Yak is a great way to mingle with friends both new and old. Dirty Girl Adventures provides all the gear, the instruction, safety paddlers and we always ADVENTURE – CONNECT – ENGAGE!  We do need a minimum registration of 10 people one week prior to 9/23 in order to hold this event.

Regular Rental: $40

What to expect: You will get the instruction you need prior to kayaking.  We will provide support on the water, take pictures and allow your group to paddle as hard or as little as you prefer.  Lake Shawnee is beautiful with both manicured gardens and wild nature around the lake.

Location:  Lake Shawnee South Boat Ramp GOOGLE MAP – this is south of Ted Ensley Gardens – you can park along the road coming into the parking lot. 

Bring: sunscreen, WATER, beverages of choice, snacks, a hat, water shoes or old tennis shoes, towel for the ride home – soft sided coolers fit best into/onto the kayaks

Wear: comfy clothing that can get slightly damp

Refunds are given up to two weeks before the date of the event no questions asked. After that, refunds are not given unless there are exceptional circumstances. Dirty Girl Adventures may cancel or modify an event due to weather or conditions. Everyone will receive a refund if that is the reason for the cancellation. We will paddle and hike in cool, rainy or snowy conditions. Cancellation only occurs in severe weather or other dangerous conditions.

Theresa’s River Adventure with FRIENDS!!

Join us for a River Adventure August 14th with Theresa!

We will paddle the Mighty Kaw from Manhattan to St. George.  River Adventures are generally a day long adventure so don’t make any big plans post paddle.

You will receive an email with final details a couple days before the event as we continually monitor weather and water conditions.

OYO’s = own your own kayak and gear – we provide the guide, safety paddlers and a shuttle bus ride

Renters = we provide the kayak, paddle, life jacket, guide, safety paddlers, and a shuttle bus ride

10am – Gear drop for OYO’S  at Manhattan the Blue River Access  (this is for those who own their own kayaks and gear)

Directions to Manhattan Blue River Access:  From I-70 take the Manhattan exit #313 and go 8 miles north on K-177 to Manhattan.  After crossing the Kaw River bridge take the ramp marked North 177.  Follow the signs to U.S.24 and turn east toward Wamego.  The turn off for Linear Park is about 1 mile on the right.

11am – Bus check in for everyone is at Boggs River Landing in St. George:  From Highway 24 take Military Trail Road into St. George, take the right onto Lincoln and turn into the gravel river access. GOOGLE MAP LINK

We’ll start our paddle about 11:45 and we’ll paddle until we’re done…we don’t rush the river!

RENTALS = We provide the kayak, paddle, life jacket, instruction, guide, safety paddlers and shuttle bus ride

OYO’s = You bring the kayak and gear we bring the guide, safety paddlers, and provide the shuttle bus ride 

Regular Rental: $55

Club Rental: $45

Bring: sunscreen, WATER, electrolyte replacements, hearty snacks and your lunch, beverages of choice, a hat, water shoes or old tennis shoes. Renters – small soft sided coolers fit into and onto the kayaks most easily.  Bringing more than one is fine – hard sided big coolers don’t fit into kayaks easily. 

Expected time commitment: However long it takes, we don’t rush, we go with the flow!

The month of July is National Parks and Recreation Month so we thought that we would celebrate with our local Shawnee County Parks and Recreation by practicing yoga in a different park each week!  Think shady!  Think flowers!  Think RELAXING!

Join us each Thursday at our usual time 5:45-6:45pm in an unusual place for Compass Point Yoga!  Our yoga teacher, Dirty Girl Jennifer Sieben creates each class to help each participant grow and develop their practice.  Perfect for beginners, challenging for experienced yogis and always focused on building self compassion, breath and  core strength all in one class!  Dirty Girls practice no judgement and accept you where you are, come to check out Dirty Girl Yoga in celebration of National Parks and Recreation Month.

JULY SPECIAL includes $5 walk in or $25 for a 5 class punch card.

River Run – Lawrence to Eudora

Join us for a River Adventure!

We will paddle the Mighty Kaw from Lawrence to Eudora on Saturday July 17th.  Our plan is for a relaxing afternoon and early evening on the Kaw.   This is one of our favorite sections of the Kaw with ample opportunities to see eagles and other wildlife.

We STRONGLY recommend that you have paddling experience prior to joining us for an event on the Kaw – try one of our Lake events first.

We will provide the gear if you are a renter (life jacket, kayak, paddle) and everyone will have a guide and safety paddlers for the duration of the event.

You will receive a detailed informational email 2 days before the event when you have pre-registered.

Details…

We will gather in Eudora at 2:30pm to load the bus.

OYO’s  (people who own their own kayak) will gear drop in Lawrence at 1:30pm in order to have time to get to Eudora for boarding the bus.

This will be a gorgeous afternoon on the Kaw with plenty of sandbar exploration, good company and great weather.

Since both ladies are all about nature, color, and collaborating with local businesses, they couldn’t wait to combine forces to offer a truly SUMMER creation. Ashley will be making concrete vases and handing out live succulent picks to add to the GORGEOUS fresh-cut flower stems Abby will be providing out of the back of her vintage pickup truck.

Each ticket includes:

YOGA on the RIVER

Yoga and Kayaking!!  Yes!  This is the perfect combination for a relaxing evening outside!  All of our events include instruction and guide service as well as the rental gear needed to support your adventure experience.  If you own your own kayak and gear you’re welcome to join us for an awesome guided experience on the river.

On June 26th, we invite you to join us for a short paddle on the river followed by a great YOGA CLASS on the sandbar with RYT Jennifer Sieben.  She is our our awesome Compass Point Yoga teacher and a Dirty Girl.  We will paddle, paddle, float, float down the Delaware to the sandbar where we will enjoy YOGA followed by social time and our dinners.  We’ve got yoga mats, dress comfy for paddling and yoga!

You will receive a detailed informational email with maps and location of gear drop and check in 2 days before the event when you have pre-registered.

CHECK IN:  Perry Lecompton Rising Sun River access at 3pm to load the bus.

GEAR DROP:  2pm OYO gear drop at the Spillway then return to Lecompton to board the bus.

WEAR:   Clothing that can get damp and that dries quickly, hat, wear water shoes or old tennis shoes FLIP FLOPS ARE NOT OK

First Friday Float June 4th, 2021

WooHoo!  Help us celebrate Topeka’s First Friday Art Walk with a short and sweet First Friday Float!  It’s the BEST WAY to start your FIRST FRIDAY!

Due to current River conditions this event will officially take place at Lake Shawnee.

Gear Drop: 9am

Paddle Time: 9:30 – 11:30

We’re READY!  We will paddle on the Mighty Kaw from Lecompton to Lawrence on Saturday May 29th.

If we can’t do the River we will switch to the Lake – SO DON’T SIGN UP UNLESS YOU’RE READY TO DO EITHER EVENT!  You will receive a coupon for the price difference between events to use in the future.

Join us for Compass Point Yoga on the Courtyard with RYT Jennifer Sieben EVERY THURSDAY from 5:45 – 6:45pm

Walk in yogi’s can purchase a pass for $7 day of class or purchase a Yoga Punch Card for $25  good for 5 sessions over 8 weeks.

Yoga cards purchased but not used due to COVID -19 will be honored.

Since this is an outside class, please watch the weather – check our FACEBOOK to see if there are changes in class due to inclement weather.

Please consider bringing your own yoga supplies or you can use ours – arrive masked and keep your mask on until you are seated on your mat on the courtyard.  Respect social distancing and help all those in attendance feel as comfortable as possible.
