Elk River Backpacking and Camping Adventure
September 26 @ 10:00 am - September 27 @ 5:00 pm$80 – $100
Join us for a fall backpacking adventure on the Elk River Trail. This is a National Recreation Trail, noted in Backpacker Magazine as the best backpacking trail in Kansas. It is a scenic 15 mile trail that was a finalist for the 8 Wonders of Kansas. The trail is on the edge of the Chautauqua Hills region, threads through boulders and up rocky bluffs and sometimes features small waterfalls as well as multiple water crossings – we’re hoping there is water!
We will camp Friday night then start hiking Saturday morning around 10am. We will spend Saturday night on the trail and complete the hike Sunday. If you don’t want to camp Friday night, you are welcome to join us Saturday morning.
WHEN: Friday September 25th through Sunday September 27th.
WHERE: Elk River Trail – located near Elk City and Independence Kansas – we will have to make a car shuttle plan as it is a 15 mile one way hike.
WHAT: This is a backpacking trip. You will need to bring all of your own gear, we will provide a gear list.
FOOD and WATER: You will be responsible for your own food plan, prep and water.
