Dirty Girls Go All the Way!
October 17 - October 18$105 – $205
October 17-18 – ALL the WAY!
We will hike the entire 29 miles of the Lake Perry Trail over the weekend. If you’d like to hike halfway, you can choose either Saturday or Sunday.
The Perry Lake Trail is 29 miles of backcountry hiking including steep and rocky inclines and declines. The terrain is challenging with passage through pastures, woodlands, over rocky creeks and through some rough brush. There is one section on a gravel road which strangely isn’t the easiest section 😉
When: October 17th and 18th. Check-in at 8 am both days
What: Hiking 29 Miles – our pace will be approximately 20-30 minute miles at the front of the group and 45-minute miles at the end of the group. Saturday is a harder day, covering the more difficult sections of the trail.
The USACE closes all campgrounds and turns off all water and electricity on October 1st. Soooo, we will primitive camp on the trail. You will need your own tent, sleeping material and snacks for the trail.
You are invited to camp Friday evening. You may arrive after 6 pm. Dinner is on your own Friday. If you would rather arrive Saturday morning and set your tent up after hiking that’s fine as well. The earliest you can arrive on Saturday is 7:30 am.
On Saturday, we will meet at our Dirty Girl Basecamp at 8 am to load the Dirty Girl Bus for a ride to the PLT trailhead. From there we will hike about 7 miles to our lunch stop. After lunch, we will hike about 7 miles to end at Dirty Girl Basecamp. We will have a delicious hot dinner around the campfire. The next morning we’ll get up and repeat our activities on the opposite side of the trail with about 7 miles before lunch and 8 after lunch to end up back at Dirty Girl Basecamp!
YOU PROVIDE- Your own hiking gear, your own camping gear, your own trail snacks and a hydration pack or other means of carrying water. We’d like you to bring your own water for both days although we will haul enough to refill at lunch each day.
- All the Way: $205
- Half Way: $105
No Sign Ups AFTER October 14th – NO REFUNDS AFTER October 16th!
This event involves extensive planning for meals, support, Dirty Minions etc. please be aware of this when signing up.
Basecamp: There is no water or electricity available at camp – however, we will haul all the water needed at camp and provide instant hot water for washing hands and faces. We will also include fresh hot coffee Sunday Morning. We will provide the fire and do all mowing, brush trimming and basic maintenance prior to your arrival so that your wilderness campground is at least slightly tamed. This will include making the pit toilet useable and mostly pretty cool!
Dirty Minions: They will bring your lawn chair, water refills and lunch to us trailside each day. They will also ensure that our fire is started and our hot dinner is ready shortly after we return to camp on Saturday. Vegetarian meal options available.
Trail and camp support: We will provide a suggested gear list prior to the event. We will provide a lead hiker, a middle hiker and a sweep hiker on trail. We will provide a guide support, information about the trail history and local plants and animals. We will all have first aid kits and equipment to aid in your comfort if injured. We will always know where we are (mostly) and will be able to access outside support if needed. Portions of this trail are not accessible by car.
