The Third Annual Ass Kicker! We will paddle 20 miles on the Kansas River! It’s an all day kinda deal, plan now! Usually it’s hot and the river is low – who knows if the river will be low this year?! It will likely be HOT though! It was a great trip last year and there is no doubt that the 3rd annual Ass Kicker will Kick Ass!
You should have experience with kayaking on the river to participate in this event. You should also have good heat tolerance, schedule nothing post event (who knows how long it will take – at least 9 hours!) and be well hydrated and rested before we go!
We will meet and load the bus at 8:30am at the DeSoto Riverfest Park. We will ride the bus to Lawrence 8th Street Boat Ramp – River Trails to push out onto the Kaw. We will paddle away around 9:15am. Plan to be on the river from 8-10 hours getting out in DeSoto. (While this time estimate might be long – we aren’t going to rush.) We will travel 20 river miles on this trip.
Details for OYO’s … you will need to drop your gear at the Lawrence 8th Street Boat Ramp – River Trails. GEAR DROP IS BETWEEN 7:30am and 8am DO NOT BE LATER THAN 8am! The drive to DeSoto is about 25 minutes so PLEASE plan to arrive at gear drop at 7:30am in order to allow ample time.
Bring: Water, food, water, snacks, sun screen, water, adult beverages, sun screen, an old t-shirt or water UPF shirt (remember this is a long time in the sun, moving muscles – bring more water and more food than you think that you will need)
Wear: swimsuit, water shoes or old tennis shoes, hat

What are you paying for? Use of a kayak, paddle, life jacket and all of the lifting, hauling, planning and coordination needed to make this happen. Renters and Oyo’s are paying for a river guide and experienced safety paddlers who will ensure that your trip is safe and that you receive instruction and support along the way. We will have supplies necessary to provide basic first aid on the river. You will also have the opportunity to ride on the bus! In addition the OYO’s receive the services of a Dirty Minion to guard your gear after you drop it off – remember though, that the lifting, hauling and loading is on you unless you are going to tip the minions!
In case you are wondering about our refund policy – refunds are given up to one week before the date of the event no questions asked. After that, refunds are not given unless there are exceptional circumstances. Dirty Girl Adventures may cancel an event due to weather or conditions. Everyone will receive a refund if that is the reason for the cancellation. We will paddle and hike in cool, rainy or snowy conditions. Cancellation only occurs in severe weather or other dangerous conditions.
